Some of you know me as Stereoman Ekwe, the voice behind “Sample Ekwe”. I once stood on the biggest stages and made the world dance. But one false accusation nearly ended everything—my life, my career, and my peace.
I was accused of taking the life of the mother of my child, Rukayat Idris. She was found dead, and without proper investigation or evidence, fingers were pointed—at me.
I was dragged from grace and locked in a cell at Panti, treated like a criminal.
The truth?
I was in Holland when it happened. But facts didn’t matter in the court of public opinion.
The media ran with it.
The calls stopped.
The shows disappeared.
Friends vanished.
Fans withdrew.
I sat in that cell—confused, broken, and forgotten.
I wept.
I prayed.
I begged God not to let this be the end of me.
And God heard me.
Thanks to Festus Keyamo, the Ministry of Justice, and a few people who refused to give up on me, I was proven innocent.
But the damage had already been done.

I lost time I can never recover.
I lost a part of my daughter’s childhood.
I lost respect, peace, and opportunities.
But I did not lose faith.
I did not lose myself.
Now, I’m standing again.
The music is back.
The fire is back.
And I’m slowly reclaiming my name—not as a suspect—but as a survivor.
As an artist.
As a father.
As a man who refused to be broken. visit his facebook page for more
